Following these instructions carefully keeps pain, swelling and infection to a minimum.
Keep firm bite pressure on the gauze pad placed over the surgical site for 30–45 minutes. Slight bleeding or oozing is normal for the first 24 hours.
Apply an ice pack to the side of your face over the surgical area for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off during the first 24–48 hours.
Drink plenty of liquids. Eat soft foods like yogurt, smoothies, pudding, and soups. Avoid hot liquids and do NOT use a straw for 7 days.
Pain that gets worse after day three, visible bone in the socket, fever or swelling that spreads: call us the same day.
